Terror Cult Zine 03
out in January 2010!!
Interview with Burial Hordes
Hails Cthonos!!! Burial Hordes is one of most hateful commando from Greece. What makes you to feel such anger and hate inside your guts that you push it to express in your music?
Everything and everybody feeds our hatred! Here in Hellas we live in extremely Christian society. They try to slave our free spirit and cut our wings but the only that they succeed is to grown our negative energy and through the BURIAL HORDES hellish war machine they receive our blasphemical bullets and our unholy curses
Tell me then if hate / fury is most of the most important element in Burial Hordes' black metal?
Definitely all starts and ends with that in our music and our philosophy.
Your vocals are just black vomits from hell onto the fucking book of Lies. What kind of emotions enshrouds you while you perform your screams?
Thanks for your good words. When I perform the evil propaganda for sure is a real demonic possession. Every word that I spit they bring me closer and closer to the darkest dimensions and my negative energy in the climax level.
Can Burial Hordes be described as religious black metal? Your corpse painting looks honest and totally devoted plus lyrical themes might be considered that way.
We are not a religious band for the simply thing that we don't follow anybodies rules. Each we have our own philosophy and our own creed but the purpose and the mission is the same with everybody that is in the left hand path and that is important.
Your debut album and the last so far called "War, Revenge & Total Annihilation" was recorded in two different studios. Why did it happen like that?
Yeah you have right. Guitars and bass were recorded in Necromachine studios and all the other in Baseline studios. the reason for that is in Necromachine studios we had ability to stay more hours and that was important to find the perfect sound and to recorded the strings. For our new album that will not happen and everything will record in 1 studio.
How is it going the co-operation with Asphyxiate Recordings? Are you satisfied with the deal so far?
The deal with Asphyxiate recordings was only for our debut album together with the Italian label The Oath records. We didn't have any problem with them and they did a good job. Now for our new album one of these days we will announce the label that will release it.
One track called "Unholy Ultraviolent Domination" starts with some industrial noises. Whose idea was it for these mean sounds and what they represent?
From the first time that I was listened this track I had this idea to start in that way. It's a personal phrase which I can't share with your readers. We reverse it and we put distortion and that is the result. We like this details because we thing that helps a lot to make better each track.
To whom or what does the title refer to "War, Revenge & Total Annihilation"?
I think the title and the message is clear. WAR, REVENGE AND TOTAL ANNIHILATION to all the religious scums and to weak humanity. Nothing more nothing less
In this album you didn't only reach for black metal arrangements but it is easily to point out few thrash or death metal riffs. Any particular reason for it or it just appeared while completing the songs?
When we composed we don't have particular plan how they sounds the tracks. It is natural that because all in burial hordes we are fucking Huge fans of old school thrash metal with bands such as Destruction, Sodom, Slayer, Razor, Exodus and many many more and this elements you can find and in our music.
In the arrangements is easy also to hear that you don't use many repetitive riffing but instead you put still some new ones. It gives More spectrums to your tracks and also these are not so predictable. Your opinion?
You have totally right and I'm very glad that you notice that because you show me that you listen very carefully our album. Necro and Phychaos are totally riff machines and in 1 track you can hear a lot of different riffs without to repeat it. Our purpose is to create a violated atmosphere and to keep us in a total intense all the time.
How do you the general aspect of promoting black metal? Is there any barrier that shouldn't be crossed?
My main way to promote our band is writing writing and writing. This is the way that I learn all this years when I was kid and it's difficult for me to change and I don't want. Of course now we have MySpace, e-mails and all that technological things and I used that but for sure I still continue the true good old way. Now it depends from the band how they want to promote their music. The usual is bands that create weak music they do ridiculous things and definitely they crossed the barrier. I have a lot of examples but I don't want to mention because I don't want to give value to their bull-shits.
Many black metal bands use their mother tongue language. Have it ever crossed your mind to write lyrics in Greek?
In our album "War, Revenge And Total Annihilation" I used some Hellenic words here and there in some tracks but not a whole phrase. In our new album I don't use any Hellenic word. That it depends how I want to say something and if it sounds good for me in Hellenic I don't have any problem to use my mother tongue.
Don't you think that doing it in english is more universal mean everyone can be proud of his roots, culture and historical things but still you must keep in mind that there are listeners who want as much as possible from your music. But from the other side you still have to create first for yourself to not lose your honest and true emotions in music. Where do you think is the golden spot for this?
As I said it depends from me. I respect totally the listeners of our album but if it sounds good for me I will write in Hellenic. But my opinion is when you hear something and you like it doesn't matter if it's written in a language that you don't know because you can create pictures in your mind and understand totally what they want to say or you can create your own pictures, if you understand what I mean. For example I have so many albums written in Norwegian and other languages that I don't know even a simply word but this is not a problem for me because if I like it I feel totally what they want to say.
As speaking about history and national pride... Are you proud of being born in Greece and why?
I'm totally proud for my ancient ancestors and all the great things that they did but I'm not proud for the neo-greeks. Humans that is fall in misery and weakness and they let the fucking christianity to rule and control their life and mind.
Do you have any side projects or bands you play in?
Necro and impaler is in Enshadowed, Phychaos is in Dead Congregation and me I recorded the vocals in some tracks of Primeval Mass debut album.
Your image and inhuman propaganda might be seen by many as fanaticism. Your stand in this case?
I don't have any problem to say that we are fanatics about our beliefs and our philosophy.
Tell me if your ideology of Burial Hordes is more about religious or intellectual Satanism?
If I must put a name of course intellectual Satanism is closer to our philosophy but not the totally right. Forgive me my friend but some things it's better to stay conceal and that it's very important for me.
What do you hate and despite of in nowadays black metal?
The total fakeness that rules in our unholy cult, but that it's nota nowadays phenomenon but I think everyday its growing like a plague. FUCKKKK!
I know that we are surrounded by many black metal kids and shit in general but can you point out some good bands from underground from world?
Yes of course. Check the band from Basque Country NUMEN and this days they release their new album. The German Veterans in our cult PARAGON BELIAL, they finished the recordings of their new album and its fucking great; the Italian band ARS MACABRA with a new hellish album; GRIGORI from Singapore with the excellent new demo.
Where is it possible to see you live and what can we expect?
We plan to play live after the recording of our new 2nd album so in the next year..
What do you think about depressive genre of black metal? Are these suicidal aspects proper ones for individuals and strong ones who should be representatives of black metal?
If someone wants to suicide for me is very welcome and I will support him. I like some bands but in general I don't care about that genre of black metal because it's totally different from my philosophy.
Can you tell me the nearest future plans of Burial Hordes and Cthonos personally as well?
In 1 month we will enter to the studio to record 2 new tracks for a compilation and in January we will record our 2nd album called "DEVOTION TO UNHOLY CREED"
Thank you for the time let the darkness fill your heart.
